                    Are IVF Babies Healthy? It is unreal to say that IVF babies are unhealthy and are at higher risk of developing congenital anomalies. Basic difference between IVF babies and normal babies is the way in which they are conceived. In natural pregnancy, embryo is formed in fallopian tube after fertilization and then it comes in uterus ,implants there and grows further. In IVF pregnancy, embryo is made outside our body after 4-5 days of development in lab and then it is transferred into the uterus.   After implantation further development of embryo and fetus is exactly the same as in natural pregnancy. Risk of congenital birth defects is 2-3 % worldwide in IVF which is  same as in naturally conceived babies.
